Experienced Surgical Care
Our Avon vets perform veterinary surgery, including veterinary orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, spay & neuter procedures, c-sections and more.
Vet Surgery
We offer a wide range of surgical procedures for cats and dogs at our Avon clinic, using surgical techniques and stringent surgical protocols.
During each vet surgery, a dedicated nurse will administer anesthesia and continuously monitor your pet using electronic patient monitoring equipment. Pain management will also be provided.
Post-operative monitoring and pain management are our priority following surgery. Your vet will also provide thorough instructions for at-home care.
What to Expect from Pet Surgery
We always keep you fully informed about why we are recommending a surgical procedure and regarding any post-operative care your pet will need at home. We practice stringent surgical protocols at our clinic.
Surgical Procedures
Our vets at Animal General routinely perform the following elective and non-elective surgeries:
- Soft Tissue Surgery
We offer soft tissue surgical procedures for pet's suffering from a wide range of disorders affecting their throat, nose and ears.
We also offer procedures for origentila, cardiothoracic, gastrointestinal, skin, oncological and hepatic disorders.
- Mass Removal
Cats and dogs can develop masses associated with the skin. They can also grow inside a body cavity and can be serious or life-threatening.
Mass removal surgery is a fairly common procedure for both cats and dogs.
- Orthopedic Surgery
Orthopedic surgeries cover a wide range of surgeries which treat injuries and diseases of the bones, ligaments, tendons, joints and other skeletal structures in your pet.
- Spaying & Neutering
Spaying and neutering is the surgical sterilization of your dog or cat in order to prevent diseases, avoid unwanted pregnancies and provide them with an extended life.
The Surgery Process
We know that the surgical process for your pet can cause anxiety. We want to assure you that we only recommend surgery when it is in the best interests of your beloved pet.
We will ensure that you fully understand why we are recommending surgery, and that you are comfortable making the decision to move ahead.
Surgical protocols at our clinic include:
Pre-surgical assessments. We will walk through the specifics of the procedure with you and complete a physicals examination of your pet to determine if it is safe to administer anesthesia.
Dedicated surgical suites. Surgeries are performed in a dedicated surgical suite. This room is kept sterile and is cleaned regularly to prevent cross-contamination.
Surgical attire. Our staff are careful to wear disposable masks and caps at all times while they are in the surgical suite. Those involved in the procedure itself will also wear sterile gowns and single-use gloves.
Sterile packs and equipment. We are very careful to sterilize, clean and wrap all of our surgical equipment before every surgery.
